about
How To Live Life is a song all about death. It's a celebration of a life well lived, an uplifting journey through grief, and the desire to hold our loved ones tightly while we still can.
---
This track represents the most ambitious project we've completed so far. I started writing the lyrics towards the end of 2018, just after my grandfather passed - the song is ultimately for him, but it's also a celebration of the amazing people we still have. Going through this experience taught me to appreciate everything in life a little bit more, and I'm very glad for that.
We hatched plans to start recording at the start of 2020, but a certain global pandemic had other ideas. Putting the project on hold after we'd just started was incredibly frustrating, but we gradually added more and more layers between lockdowns, and we were able to finally add the finishing touches in summer of 2021.
Yesterday I remember you so well with your energy and urgency
You were a vital force to witness
These fall days would be so much harder without you
I know, I know we gotta make a change
I will try to do right by you
"London just doesn’t have time for you today son"
Said the voice in my head, at least that’s what I think it was
How do you feel better, when personal catastrophes so relentless?
I have faith in the world ‘cause I have faith in you
I will try to do right by you
I still remember those childhood visits on your bike, London to Brighton
Teaching us how to live life when it still mattered
I am determined not to fail you
I am terrified that I will fail you
What are you here for? What is your purpose?
And other existential burdens
I will try
I will try
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you
We will remember you

We'd like to extend a special thanks to all of our friends and family for providing endless encouragement and advice throughout, you really helped us get this one over the line. In particular: Juniper McBurnie for being incredibly patient with a bunch of production novices and teaching us so much, Kyran Hill for rehearsing and performing live on this song with us when we'd just written it, Meidhbhín Browne for their gentle kindness and amazing artwork, Melissa Mottor for her never-ending support, all of the OG Superfriends (you know who you are), and the UK DIY music community for always making us feel welcome and answering my many questions.

A whole series of bangers that culminates in the brilliant pairing of the urgency of Don't Talk to Me with the tender intimacy of Touch Knees. Reminiscent of Apologies I have None. Toby
